‘I Tweeted In Anger’, Ministerial Nominee Bosun Tijani Explains Non-Patriotic Tweet

Senator Abdulfatai Buhari representing Oyo North Senatorial District, on Saturday, tackled a ministerial nominee, Bosun Tijani, over a non-patriotic tweet he posted over four years ago.

Channels TV report that, The lawmaker quizzed Tijani, one of the 48 ministerial nominees of President Bola Tinubu, when he appeared before the Senate for screening today.

After 46-year-old Tijani, an IT specialist, read his profile to the MPs, the Oyo Senator remarked, “On the 21st of July 2019, Dr Bosun tweeted against Nigeria that he does not appreciate the Nigerian passport and Nigeria as a nation.”

The candidate was questioned by the congressman about if he still supported Nigeria and its passport.

Channels TV report that, Speaking before the Senate, Tijani expressed his love and commitment for Nigeria and her growth. The candidate said that his angry interaction with the Chinese Embassy was the reason behind his post.   

The Ogun State ministerial candidate said, “I tweeted in anger.

Tijani was promptly defended by Senator Ishaku Abbo of the Adamawa North Senatorial District, who claimed that the nominee tweeted out of a mix of indignation and love for Nigeria.

Additionally, the candidate from his state was defended by Senator Solomon Adeola of Ogun West Senatorial District, who claimed that his “youthful exuberance” and “shortcoming” should be overlooked.

Tijani has the potential to use his expertise to grow Nigeria’s IT industry, according to Adeola, who criticised the nomination, adding that the baby shouldn’t be tossed out with the bathwater.
