Labour Party Rejects Tribunal's Ruling, Plans Next Move

The Labour Party (LP) has voiced its disapproval of the judgments delivered by the Presidential Election Petitions Court in response to the party’s petitions challenging the electoral victory of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25, 2023 poll.

According to Vanguard paper, in a statement following the Tribunal’s verdict on Wednesday, the National Publicity Secretary of the LP, Obiora Ifoh, stated that justice had not been served in the party’s petitions against the APC and Tinubu.

The LP also revealed that it would announce its next course of action after consulting with its legal team upon receiving the Certified True Copy of the judgments.

According to the party, the court’s judgment “did not reflect the law and the desire of the people.”

The statement went on to say, “Nigerians were witnesses to the electoral robbery that took place on February 25, 2023, which was globally condemned but the Tribunal in its wisdom refused to accept the obvious.”

Emphasizing the significance of democracy, the LP pledged not to relent until the will of the people prevails.

“We salute the doggedness of our team of lawyers who fearlessly exposed the wrath in our system. We can only weep for democracy in Nigeria, but we refuse to give up on Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
