Saying That A Candidate Needs 25% Of Votes In FCT To Win Was Wrong But Many Believed It -Kargbo

Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Sam Kargbo has come out to say that many people, including the Vice Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party were wrong to believe that a candidate need to get 25% of votes in the Federal Capital Territory to be declared win in the presidential election.

Recall that the PEPT court yesterday ruled that votes in Abuja is equal to votes from other states and hold no special status and reacting to that ruling, Kargbo who appeared in an interview on AIT this afternoon has stated that it is the right decision and he expects the court of Appeal to uphold that very decision.

In his own words as seen on AIT this afternoon…

“The narrative that you need 25% of votes in the Federal Capital Territory to win the presidential election was wrong but many believed it. Look at the passion of the vice presidential candidate of the Labour party, he appeared in an interview a few weeks after the election and stated that he believes that getting 25% of votes in Abuja is important. It has now been rejected by the PEPT court and it will soon be put to rest by the Court of Appeal.”

Mr. Kargbo also went ahead to state that he believes the Court of Appeal will also uphold the decision made by the PEPT court in regards to the votes from Abuja.

“I can tell you for free that the court of Appeal will uphold that particular decision in respect to the FCT.”
