I dare anyone to suspend me from PDP – Wike

PDP – Wike – Daily Post Nigeria”/>

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly challenged his own party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to take action against him if they feel the need to do so.

Speaking on Channels Television’ s Politics Today show, Wike emphasized that he has yet to encounter a party leader bold enough to suspend or expel him from the PDP.

Despite his involvement in the All Progressives Congress (APC) government under President Bola Tinubu, Wike asserted that he remains a PDP stalwart.

He revealed that he had informed the PDP leadership before accepting the ministerial role offered by President Tinubu. He even expressed his intention to support Tinubu’ s endeavors.

In a recent statement, Wike unveiled plans to reintroduce monthly sanitation measures in the federal capital city. He disclosed that the Ministry of FCT had devised a strategy involving two Saturdays per month designated for sanitation activities from 7 am to 10 am.

This initiative aims to keep Abuja clean, involving companies that provide logistics support for the FCT in evacuating refuse from public spaces and markets.

Wike acknowledged the need for collective effort to achieve a clean Abuja, urging residents to participate in the process by setting aside time on Saturdays to clear refuse from their homes.

He emphasized that sacrifices were necessary to maintain a clean environment and sought cooperation from the populace.

Touching on city infrastructure, Wike indicated that improvements had been made in terms of streetlights, although there was still progress to be made. He assured that the administration was committed to lighting up all of Abuja.

Regarding the distortion of the Abuja Master Plan, Wike acknowledged the problem and pledged that corrective measures would be taken.

The FCTA (Federal Capital Territory Administration) was reportedly assessing areas where parks and greens were supposed to be, as well as identifying lands that had been developed contrary to the original plan.

The government expressed a desire to address plots that had remained undeveloped for an extended period, aiming to prevent criminal activities in those areas.

Wike criticized the situation of vacant lands being occupied by makeshift settlements due to lack of development, stressing that such circumstances wouldn’ t be tolerated under President Tinubu’ s leadership.

He questioned the rationale behind allowing empty lands in the city to be misused in that manner and indicated that the government intended to rectify this issue.
