Hon Obinna Anyanwu Orders Immediate Removal Of Illegal Roadblocks In Etche Local Government
The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Chief Hon. Obinna Anyanwu, PhD, DSSRS, has ordered that roadblocks within the area, where illegal taxes are collected, should be removed with immediate effect.
Dr. Anyanwu who gave the order after he supervised the dismantling of illegal roadblocks along the Chokocho-Igbodo federal road, explained that such roadblocks constituted security threats and promoted illegal activities in the area.
The chairman said the illegal roadblocks have caused so much hardship to the road users especially the transporters.
According to him, the directives became necessary to enable ease of doing business in the area, safeguard, and guarantee free passage of goods and interstate travellers.
Consequently, the Etche council chairman also placed a ban on loading of tipper trucks along the road particularly on the Chokocho bridge.
Dr. Anyanwu directed security agencies to arrest, investigate and prosecute any person or group of persons found committing the illegal acts. They are also directed to impound vehicles of defaulters.
