Governance Is Not About Party, I Am Still A PDP Member – Nyesom Wike

Amid the ongoing public uproar that has trailed his appointment into the cabinet of the Bola Tinubu administration, former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has dismissed rumors claiming he intends to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during an interview with Channels TV’s Seun Akinbaloye on Wednesday afternoon, Wike, who was recently appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisted that he remains a bonafide member of the PDP despite serving in an APC government.

The former Rivers Governor went on to point out that governance is not a matter of which political party a person belongs, adding that parties are only meant to be vehicles that takes politicians to their preferred destinations.

He said; “One thing I have found out in Nigeria is that governance is not about party. A party is a vehicle that conveys you. I am still a PDP member, an unrepentant one. But this is what I don’t like with Nigerians, what has that got to do with governance?”
