Senate: 'Yari Only Has Arabic Qualification Without Any Western Educational Qualification' -Dr. Garus Gololo

Gololo’s comments in the media chat reflect his belief that Yari’s threats to leave the APC hold no significance. He contends that Yari’s dissatisfaction is primarily driven by his failure to secure the Senate Presidency, alongside his perceived lack of educational qualifications and political experience.

Dr. Garus Gololo, a Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and a former military officer, has dismissed the threat made by Senator Abdulaziz Yari to leave the party over the leadership tussle in the Senate. Gololo stated in an interview with the Sun paper that the party is unconcerned about Yari’s intentions, suggesting that his discontent stems from not being selected as the Senate President. Gololo further argued that Yari lacks the educational qualifications required to hold such a position of leadership in the Senate.

He said, ”And maybe I have to remind us some incidents that led to the crisis in the APC when Yari was the caretaker chairman of the party. He almost led the party into crisis, but it was managed, the issue then was that he, Yari, does not have the political charisma of Senator Akpabio and we all know it. He does not even have the better academic qualification and political exposure like Senator Akpabio.

Let’s face it. He only has this Arabic qualification without any western educational qualification. And is this the kind of person the Nigeria Senate would have for as Senate President? No, the truth is that time are changing and we have to move along.”

In the interview, Gololo reminded readers of previous incidents that occurred during Yari’s tenure as the caretaker chairman of the APC. He claimed that Yari almost caused a major crisis within the party, but it was successfully managed. The underlying issue at that time was Yari’s lack of political charisma when compared to Senator Akpabio, a prominent party member. Gololo emphasized that Yari also falls short in terms of academic qualifications and political exposure when compared to Senator Akpabio.

Gololo’s statements imply that the APC is not worried about Yari’s potential departure from the party. According to him, Yari’s grievances are rooted in personal aspirations and a sense of entitlement regarding the Senate Presidency. Additionally, Gololo suggests that Yari’s previous performance as the caretaker chairman demonstrated his lack of political astuteness and the potential for causing internal conflicts within the party.
