Fuel Subsidy: Hypocrisy did not start with NLC, it started with Tinubu when he opposed GEJ -Adewole Adebayo

Adewole Adebayo, SDP presidential candidate, 2023 election, said that hypocrisy did not start with the Nigerian Labour Union (NLC), but started with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself when he opposed Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on the issue of removal of fuel subsidy.

Adewole Adebayo made the statement in an interview with Arise during the Morning Show program, when Reuben Abati asked him if he still maintains his position that, the Labour union are hypocritical for opposing Tinubu’s fuel subsidy removal, given that we are now seeing the effect of the fuel subsidy removal, the hardship, the pain that even president Tinubu acknowledged that it is like childbirth pain. Asking also if everyone who is criticising this policy is hypocritical.

Adewole Adebayo reacted that, there are two types of people who criticised this fuel subsidy removal policy, some of them are hypocrites and some of them are consistent.

“Those who oppose the removal of subsidy like me and other people who are consistent, they have ground to criticised the program, but those who supported anyone or party that said they will remove subsidy from day one, they are hypocritical.”

He then said, “The hypocrisy did not start with NLC, it started with President Tinubu himself who opposed President Jonathan when he had a smaller amount of subsidy adjustment, and all of then went to the street that the country will collapse”
