Adamu should have resigned after his statement prior to the APC presidential primaries- Muiz Banire

A former National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Muiz Banire SAN, has said that the former national chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu should have resigned after his statement prior to the APC presidential primaries.

It should be recalled that prior to the primaries, Adamu said former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan was the preferred candidate of former President Muhammadu Buhari before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu eventually won the primary election.

When asked on Central TV: some say the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu was sudden, there are those who say they were expecting it since President Tinubu was the APC presidential candidate. Were you also expecting his resignation? Do you think he would last this long with the party as Tinubu became President?

Dr Banire said, “Well I think I share that position equally. In fact, for a long time now, he ought to have resigned stemming from the first announcement he made prior to the primary election and even subsequently, the recent one involving the national assembly.

Once you find out that in our democracy here, you cannot cope with the presidency, which is your government, then quite honourably you need to exit and I think that’s what he has ultimately done now beyond all the other intrigues that are actually going on within the National Working Committee.”
