Coup: I Wonder Whether ECOWAS Or The African Union Will Threaten To Invade Gabon As Well– Femi Fani-Kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of culture and tourism in Nigeria, has responded to the latest coup in Gabon on his verified Facebook page. He questions whether ECOWAS or the African Union will threaten to invade Gabon like they did in the Niger military coup.

Punch reported that shortly after winning the election, Ali Bongo, the president of Gabon, was ousted from office by the military. The announcement that they had taken control was made on national television by soldiers from Gabon. The coup’s organizers also declared that they would overthrow Gabon’s democratically elected government and annul the election results from the previous Saturday.

Reacting to this, Femi Fani-Kayode described this coup as a sad news. He continued as he said he wonders if ECOWAS or African Union will threaten to invade Gabon.

According to Femi Fani-Kayode: “I am not surprised that this has happened and frankly we should expect more coups in the Francophone countries of West and Central Africa for the reasons I stated in that essay (Does Killing Nigerien Babies Bring Glory To Our Name?)
