Tribunal: Atiku and Peter Obi were product of flawed elections in the past–Dumebi Kachikwu

Dumebi Kachikwu, the presidential nominee of the African Democratic Congress, has responded to the Nigerian Federal Government’s directive to dismantle the “All Eyes On The Judiciary” billboards, abbreted as ‘AEOTJ’, that have been erected in various locations across the country. These billboards appeared in anticipation of the verdict from the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja.

Nigerians are eagerly awaiting the tribunal’s decision as both Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party contested the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In an exclusive interview with The Punch paper, Dumebi Kachikwu voiced his support for the removal of these billboards. He stressed the paramount importance of protecting the integrity of the judiciary, acknowledging that there might be individuals with questionable motives seeking to exert undue influence.

Kachikwu explained his endorsement of removing the billboards, citing concerns that the message “All eyes on the judiciary” could inadvertently create unwarranted pressure on the judicial process. He emphasized the necessity for trust in the legal process for those who choose to engage with it and suggested that individuals lacking confidence in the judiciary should reconsider their decision to pursue legal action.

Furthermore, Kachikwu underscored that both Atiku and Obi (Labour Party’s presidential candidate) had emerged from elections with alleged irregularities in the past.
