It Should Be Made Clear That Nigerians Are Not Interested In Rerun Election-Igbo Leader, Echefu

Nigerians are awaiting the decision of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, which is currently in session in Abuja. The National President of the Indigenous Igbo Youths Congress (IIYC), Chief Mayor Echefu, has responded.

Recall that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State and national leader of the All Progressives Congress, won the presidency of the nation over other formidable candidates, including Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP. This is according to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently being contested in the Presidential Election Tribunal in Abuja by the presidential candidates of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. The Presidential Election Tribunal started hearing the parties’ arguments a few weeks ago.

Chief Mayor Echefu was quoted in The Sun paper as saying, “All eyes are on the judiciary,” in an exclusive interview. It should be made plain that Nigerians are not interested in a rerun election notwithstanding the President’s camp’s claims to the contrary.

He continued, “The public are aware of the election’s results and the victorious candidate. The APC should abandon the idea of a second round of voting if they are enjoying it because young people in Nigeria would not support it.

Chief Mayor Echefu went on to say that the judiciary has a fantastic opportunity to make its reputation known throughout this nation. The election and its conduct received a harsh assessment in every report from the election observers.
