Tinubu, Okonjo-Iweala Meet In Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, WTO, Prof. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Prof. Okonjo-Iweala arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 2:50 pm alongside the former Minister of State for Health under Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, Dr. Ali Pate.

Prof. Okonjo-Iweala was the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy during Jonathan’s government.

Troops Of 1 Division Neutralize 3 Bandits

Troops fighting to rid Kaduna State off the activities of criminal elements, have nuetralize three armed bandits following a shootout in the hideout at Chikun LGA in Kaduna State.

Deputy Director, Public Relations, Lt. Col Yahaya who made this known said several weapons, drugs and logistics equipment were recovered from the bandits.

He said, The ongoing clearance operation by 1 Division Nigerian Army has continue to yield positive results as troops made contact with bandits and criminal elements in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

During the well planned and adequately executed operation, troops neutralized 3 bandits and captured one AK 47 rifle, two locally fabricated AK 47 rifles, seven AK 47 magazines and eight motorcycles.

Naira Drops Against Dollar, Exchanges At N774

The week started negatively as the Naira depreciated against the Dollar, exchanging at N774.78 at the official foreign exchange market window.

According to NAN, on Monday, the Naira lost by 4.27 per cent compared with N743.07, which it exchanged for after the close of business on Aug. 4.

The open indicative rate closed at N771.64 to the Dollar on Monday.

A spot exchange rate of N799 to the Dollar was the highest rate recorded within the day’s trading before it settled at N774.78.

Residents Doctors To Meet With FG Today As Nationwide Protest Looms

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) is set for a meeting with federal government representatives today over the ongoing strike and planned protest.

Speaking with TheCable on Tuesday, Emeka Orji, NARD president, said the outcome of the meeting will determine if the protest would hold as planned.

I cannot mention the federal government representatives we will be meeting with for now. But we will disclose our next move after the meeting, maybe in the next four to five hours, he said.
