On Monday, President Bola Tinubu met behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with the Minister of Defence, Muhammed Badaru, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and military leaders, according to Channels TV.

Since they took their oaths of office on August 21, 2023, this was the President’ s first encounter with the ministers.

However, the meeting’ s objective was kept secret.

Hours before the President was scheduled to go to New Delhi, India, for the G- 20 Leaders’ Summit, a meeting was held.

Badaru informed Nigerians that he and the minister of state could not afford to betray the trust placed in them by the President and that ” remarkable” reforms in Nigeria’ s security architecture would take place within a year.

The meeting comes two days before the presidential election petition tribunal will deliver its judgement.

The tribunal will deliver its judgement on Wednesday after months of hearing the arguments of the petitioners and respondents.
