‘Your intent is to cause crises’ — PDP tackles Tinubu over final address at tribunal

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of trying to intimidate the judiciary and trigger crises in the country.

Tinubu had asked the election tribunal to dismiss the petition seeking to nullify his election on the grounds that he did not secure 25 percent of lawful votes cast in the federal capital territory (FCT).

In a statement on Monday, Debo Ologunagba, PDP spokesperson, said the threat of a crisis and anarchy by the president is not only subversive but an affront to democratic order and an assault on the corporate existence of the nation.

“It is alarming and disturbing that the APC externalized to the public, their final written address in which they also threatened national peace if the court upholds the clear provisions of section 134 of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) with regard to the mandatory and statutory requirements for which a candidate in a presidential election can be declared winner,” the statement reads.

This action is ostensibly to set the stage to orchestrate violent crisis in various parts of the country with the intention to further blackmail the PEPC,” the party added.

Petrol Pump Price May Rise Over Activities Of Tanker Drivers – IPMAN

Pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also called petrol may increase following what marketers described as ‘Act Of Sabotage ‘ by haulage operators across the country.

According to findings by LEADERSHIP, tanker drivers are imposing illegal charges on marketers ranging from between N50,000 to N100,000 per 33,000 litres petrol tanker capacity.

According to the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), the charges are not only illegal but arbitrary and are adding to operational cost borne by members.

Confirming the development to our Correspondent, national President of IPMAN, Elder Chinedu Okoronkwo, warned that if Federal Government fails to prevail on the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD), to stop the imposition of illegal levies on her members, it may lead to hike in pump price of petrol.

He said a meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of IPMAN held recently in Abuja, during when they raised concerns on the implication of the action as well as informing the Federal Government and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) of the act of sabotage being perpetrated by tanker drivers in the distribution of products.

Don’t Give Emefiele Dasuki’s Treatment, CNPP, CSOs Urge Tinubu

A group, Conference of Nigeria Parties (CNPP) and some civil society organisations under the umbrella of Coalition Of National Civil Society Organisations have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prove to Nigerians that he is a democrat by ending the All Progressives Congress (APC)-invented script of detention without trial, using bogus allegations to keep suspected political enemies in detention indefinitely.

The political parties and CSOs urged Tinubu not to give suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele the same unlawful treatment that given to former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki by former President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

In a statement jointly signed by the deputy national publicity secretary of the CNPP, comrade James Ezema and the national secretary of the CSOs, Alhaji Ali Abacha said “playing the same APC card against Emefiele will clearly portray the president in bad light after pledging to uphold the rule of law in his June 12 message to Nigerians.”

They said detaining the suspended CBN governor for over a month without trial, only to charge him for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition at a time the court has already ordered his release is totally against the principles of the rule of law, fairness, and justice that the president has preached since May 29.

Emefiele: 60 Lawyers File Contempt Charge Against DSS DG

60 constitutional and human right lawyers yesterday stormed the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja to commence committal proceedings against the director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr Yusuf Bichi, for what they described as a violation of multiple judgments and orders of court on the release of suspended chairman of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, from the custody of the agency.

The lawyers led by Mr Maxwell Opara and Ahmed Tijani, prayed the court to commit the DSS DG to prison until he purges himself of the contempt.

In their motion filed before the court for the issuing of form 48 and form 49 which are the forms to commence proceedings to commit a contemnor to prison, the lawyers said by the judgments and orders of Justice M. A. Hassan, Justice Hamza Muazu and Justice Bello Kawu, the DG DSS ought to have released Emefiele from detention.

In the affidavit in support of the application, the consortium deposed to the fact that Justice M. A. Hassan restrained the respondents in the suit, particularly, the DSS from arresting, detaining, or interrogating Mr. Emefiele for offences connected to terrorism financing, money laundering, round tripping, financial crimes of national security dimension etc.

They expressed anger that despite the orders of Justice Hassan, the DSS still went ahead to arrest and detain Mr. Emefiele and has so detained him for well over a month while shopping for ‘a non-existing’ evidence.

APC’s Ododo Represents Kogi’s Interests, Says Governor Bello’s CPS

As the November 11 gubernatorial election in Kogi State draws closer, the APC candidate, Ododo Ahmed Usman, is gaining significant ground in the Eastern Senatorial District of the state.

During a campaign at Umomi in Ofu Local Government Area, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kogi State, Onogwu Muhammed, emphasized that the APC candidate represents the interests of the entire state.

He stressed that those advocating for an ethnic agenda are individuals who have never truly prioritized the well-being of the people.

Describing ethnic agendas as self-destructive, Onogwu took the opportunity to recount a time when a former governor of the state fiercely fought for his biological son to assume the position of governor, disregarding the numerous qualified candidates from the Igala ethnic group.

He credited Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration with initiating an infrastructural turnaround for the people of Kogi East, specifically, and the state as a whole.
