Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki Commends Peaceful Local Government Elections

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of the local government elections held in the state on Saturday. The governor made these remarks shortly after casting his vote at Ward 10, Unit 19 polling station around 1:50 p.m.

According to reports from Vanguard papers on their official Twitter handle this night, despite adverse weather conditions, Governor Obaseki commended the significant turnout of voters, stating that it reflected the successful efforts of political parties in sensitizing the electorate.

“That means political parties did all they were supposed to do to sensitize the people,” he noted.

Moreover, the governor emphasized the peaceful nature of the electoral process, stating, “I am very happy with this.

Those people were here some minutes before the close of the polls. We have not had any incidence of violence from anywhere.”

Governor Obaseki expressed optimism about the outcome of the elections, saying, “I believe the popular candidates will win the elections.

He acknowledged the extensive campaign efforts made by the People’s Democratic Party and added, “I don’t know how much the other parties mobilized, but I know that the PDP was fully present in most parts of the state.”

In the most recent time prior to this election, Obaseki had complained about bad roads, and the Federal Government told him that rather than complain about FG’s project, he should fix bad roads.
