APC Speaks On Alleged Phone Conversation Between Tinubu And CJN Over A Possible Election Rerun

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned a tweet by Mr. Jackson Ude, considering it as mischievous and intentionally deceptive. The tweet alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had a telephone conversation with the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

In an official statement released by the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, it was declared that Mr. Ude had fabricated a complete falsehood regarding a matter of great national importance that is currently under review by the Presidential Election Petitions Court.

The statement emphasized that President Tinubu, along with the APC, unequivocally emerged victorious in the February 25, 2023 Presidential election. Therefore, there is no need for them to engage in any covert discussions with the Chief Justice of Nigeria regarding any pending petitions before the PEPC.

Confident in the discerning nature of the Nigerian people, the APC firmly believes that citizens are not easily swayed by tasteless and crude opposition tactics, which can only be described as a mercenary expedition.

The APC’s stance is based on its conviction that the electoral triumph was achieved through a transparent and fair process, reflecting the true will of the Nigerian people. With a strong sense of responsibility, the party takes any attempts to taint the legitimacy of this democratic exercise very seriously.

Given the ongoing investigations and reviews being conducted by the Presidential Election Petitions Court, the dissemination of unverified and misleading information must be condemned and recognized for what it truly is: an attempt to undermine the integrity of the judiciary and the electoral process.

President Tinubu and the APC remain committed to upholding the rule of law, respecting the independence of the judiciary, and ensuring that the will of the people prevails. Any efforts to create confusion and undermine the judicial process through unfounded claims are considered dangerous and unacceptable.

The APC reiterates its unwavering support for the legitimacy of the election, firmly rejecting any false narratives that seek to sow seeds of doubt and discord among the Nigerian population. The party firmly believes that the strength of democracy lies in its ability to withstand attempts to weaken it through baseless allegations.

Furthermore, the APC recognizes the intelligence and discernment of Nigerians, trusting that citizens will not be misled by baseless allegations concocted by political opponents for their own vested interests.

The party calls upon all Nigerians to remain vigilant against misinformation and to rely on credible sources when forming opinions about matters as crucial as the nation’s democratic processes and governance.

The APC, therefore, urges Mr. Jackson Ude and other purveyors of misleading information to refrain from their divisive and harmful actions. The progress of the country lies in the unity and understanding of its people, not in the dissemination of false stories aimed at tarnishing the reputation of those in power. As a nation, Nigeria must rise above such divisive tactics and instead focus on building a united and prosperous future for all.
