The Statement Attributed To Obi On Running For Election In 2027 Is Not Logical – Akin Osuntokun

Amid the ongoing legal fireworks being witnessed at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, prominent Southwest politician, Labour Party chieftain, Balogun Akin Osuntokun has come out to describe recent reports claiming that his party’s flag bearer, Peter Gregory Obi has expressed interest in running for office in 2027, as completely illogical.

Recall that on Saturday, July 15, Obi took to his verified Twitter handle to debunk news reports claiming he granted a television interview where he said he had begun making preparations for the 2027 presidential election.

However, while appearing in an interview on ARISE TV’s ‘The Morning Show’ on Sunday, July 16, Osuntokun, who was the Director-General of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council, stated that the fake news was planted on social media by people working against Obi and the Obidient Movement, adding that it is completely illogical for the Anambra Governor to be talking about 2027 election when his petition challenging the outcome of the 2023 polls has not yet been resolved by the court.

He said; “the statement attributed to Obi was the work of ‘E-rats’. These are people employed to go and plant a statement against whoever they want to victimize. And the effects of that is to demoralize you and your supporters. Let me also say that the statement they attributed to him is illogical.

Obi has not finished with 2023 and you claim he is talking about 2027. And when you look at it, you will also see that there are other prominent personalities that false statements have been attributed to. So, there is nothing in it. If he had said that he is already making preparations for 2027, then the implication of such statement is that he has already given up on his petition before the court.”
