Neyson Wike speaks after the court of appeal affirmed Tinubu as the winner of the presidential poll

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has expressed his belief that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal upheld the choice of the Nigerian people on September 6, 2023, by confirming the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 2023 presidential election held on February 26.

During an exclusive appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on September 7, 2023, Nyesom Wike extended his congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima for their triumph at the Tribunal the previous day.

Wike, who has been a central figure in the internal strife within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for more than a year, refrained from supporting the Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, former Nigerian Vice-President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, asserting that Atiku’s candidacy did not align with the interests of the southern part of the country.
