Pictures of Gov, Zulum with a Flashlight as he Storms General Hospital in the Night with Securities

According to a report by NTA on Sunday, July 16, 2023, Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum was dismayed by the lack of electricity and other problems at the General Hospital in Gwoza town.

On Saturday around midnight, the governor paid an unexpected visit to the hospital. Zulum was in Gwoza for one day for business. He spent the night in the town of Gwoza, which serves as the administrative centre for the Gwoza Local Government Area in southern Borno.

The governor has a practice of conducting surprise visits to hospitals and schools during lessons at unusual hours to observe the realities for himself. The governor has visited many hospitals late at night.

Zulum travelled around Gwoza General Hospital on his most recent visit on Saturday to check the hospital’s functionality. He visited all wards and checked the facilities. Governor Zulum was dissatisfied with what he saw.

“It is intolerable that a critical healthcare facility like Gwoza General Hospital is without basic amenities like electricity.” This circumstance jeopardises the quality of treatment offered to patients and impedes the efforts of our hardworking healthcare personnel. We’re not here to point fingers; we’re here to find solutions. Nobody brought the horrible conditions of this location to my attention,” Zulum raged.

“Neither I nor the local government authority will be exonerated,” he continued. We (all) have fallen short of the mark. However, I want to reassure you (patients and others) that, insha’Allah, we will correct this and make the working atmosphere here better than it is currently.”

Governor Zulum on Saturday night ordered the immediate start of rehabilitation works, including the restoration of power to the General Hospital in Gwoza, as part of his efforts to improve the situation.
