Ganduje emerges APC National Chairman, as Ajibola becomes secretary

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected Abdullahi Ganduje, the former Governor of Kano State, as the new National Chairman of the party. Also, Ajibola Basiru, who previously served as the Senate spokesman and hails from Osun State, has been elected as the National Secretary.

According to VANGUARD NEWS, the election took place during the 12th NEC meeting of the party, held at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

Following his victory, Ganduje expressed gratitude to the President and assured that under his leadership, the party would uphold internal democracy.

The former governor of Kano made a commitment to establish a scientific record of party supporters and give significant attention to election management and conflict resolution.

He assured that there will be a fair competition for all party members during the party primaries.

Ganduje pledged to start working promptly to secure victory for the party in all upcoming gubernatorial elections across the nation.

The NEC meeting was attended by President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, and other party leaders in the National Assembly.

During his address at the 12th NEC meeting, the President stated that the APC had emerged victorious in the elections, and it is now time to fulfill the promises of good governance to the Nigerian populace.

The President emphasized that the 2023 elections marked the most exceptional election in Nigeria’ s history.

Notably missing at the NEC meeting were former President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. However, the party’ s first National Chairman, Bisi Akande, was in attendance.

The NEC meeting took place after the Wednesday session of the APC national caucus.

In the middle of July, two members of the party’ s National Working Committee (NWC) stepped down. Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Iyiola Omisore resigned from their positions as the party’ s National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively.
