17 Lagos-Bound Passengers Burnt To Death In Accident Along Abuja-Lokoja Highway

Confirming the accident, the FCT sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Samuel Ogar Ochi, attributed the accident to speeding.

As many as 17 Lagos-bound passengers have been brutally killed in an accident.

They were burnt to death in an accident that occurred along the Abuja-Lokoja highway in the early hours of Tuesday, November 22.

Eyewitnesses said the accident involving an 18 seater Toyota Hiace bus with registration number GME 20 XA and a Daf trailer with registration number BAU 632 XA collided around Yaba junction, along Abuja-Lokoja highway.

The eyewitnesses say the 18 seater bus was coming from Abuja-Gwagwalada axis on speed, when it hit the trailer from behind and went up in flames.

Confirming the accident, the FCT sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Samuel Ogar Ochi, attributed the accident to speeding by the bus driver and poor visibility due to the Harmattan.

He said the agency would collaborate with security agencies and environmental officials to see how a mass burial will be carried out since the corpses were burnt beyond recognition.
