You’re The Only African Leader Biden Has Requested To Meet, US Envoy Tells Tinubu

Ambassador Molly Phee, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, recently revealed that President Joe Biden has asked to meet with only one African leader: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. President Biden’s action shows how highly he thinks of Tinubu’s leadership. President Tinubu’s media and public relations adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, released a statement with the details.

Channels TV stated that U.S. Ambassador Molly Phee thanked Nigerian President Olusegun Tinubu for his role in creating a positive environment for this meeting. She emphasised the possibility of enticing large-scale American investments in Nigeria and communicated the United States’ commitment to working with Tinubu to bolster the economies of Nigeria and the region.

In response, President Tinubu suggested that the U.S. ambassador prioritise the development of strategic partnership with independent African democracies, especially at a time when these democracies are under attack from anti-democratic forces both on and off the continent. President Tinubu also reaffirmed his will to finish his economic reform programme for the benefit of the Nigerian people notwithstanding the ongoing turmoil in Niger Republic.

He said, “We really appreciate your openness to making it happen, Vice President Joe Biden would like to meet with you in New York City outside of the UN General Assembly, and you are the only African leader he has asked to meet with. It’s a reflection of how much he values your direction.”
