You Are Putting Up A Very Unfortunate Concept Of Palliative Delivery – Segun Sowunmi

A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Segun Sowunmi, has insinuated, even though he did not make a direct statement, that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has not shown commitment to reduce the cost of governance; as he described the palliative measure to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy as very unfortunate.

Segun Sowunmi had said, “You are putting forward a very unfortunate concept of palliative delivery.”

Sowunmi, who spoke during an interview on Day, an Arise Television programme, faultd some moves taken by President Tinubu since he assumed Office. When asked how critical the Federal Government needs to look at reducing the cost of governance considering how high it has risen over time, the former governorship aspirant maintained that President Tinubu has not taken any step that suggests that he is ready to deal with high cost of governance.

Sowunmi said there is a need to understand that the appointment of Ministers is not a way to compensate political actors for their sacrifice at the polls. According to him, for a President that expressed sympathy for the sufferings of Nigerians, the appointment of 48 Ministers should not be encouraged.
