President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians of his determination not to fail the country in carrying out a permanent transformation of the nation’s economy to an enduring prosperity.

Tinubu said this while receiving members of Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO) on a solidarity visit to the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

This is contained in a statement signed by Chief Frank Ebere-Njoku, National Spokesperson, Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO), given to newsmen in Abuja on Monday.

The president, who thanked the organisation for standing on his mandate, said that Nigeria was on the path of recovery.

Tinubu expressed confidence in the capacity of his cabinet members to rescue the country from the present economic quagmire.

“I have at this point assembled ministers to work toward achieving my goal of a progressive Nigeria.

Gabon Coup Leader Sworn In As Interim President

General Brice Oligui Nguema, who led a coup last week that toppled Gabon’s 55-year-old dynasty, took the oath of office as interim president on Monday, promising to hold “free… (and) transparent elections” after an unspecified period.

Oligui, head of the elite Republican Guard, led officers in a coup on Wednesday against President Ali Bongo Ondimba, scion of a family that had ruled since 1967.

The ousting came just moments after Bongo, 64, was proclaimed victor in last month’s presidential election — a result branded a fraud by the opposition.

“I swear before God and the Gabonese people to faithfully preserve the republican regime,” said Oligui.

Dressed in the red ceremonial costume of the Republican Guard, Oligui also swore to “preserve the achievements of democracy”, at the ceremony held before judges of the Constitutional Court.

After two weeks of speculation, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has just confirmed Wednesday, September 6, as the definite date for judgment in the three petitions challenging the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal, Umar Mohammed Bangari confirmed the date to DAILY POST on Monday.

Bangari, whose court is accommodating the Tribunal, said that everything has been put in place to ensure a hitch-free delivery of the judgment in the three petitions.

They are those filed by the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic, Party PDP, Abubakar Atiku and his counterpart in the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi as well as that of Allied Peoples Movement, APC.

Bangari hinted that adequate security has been put in place and that only the invited members of political parties and the general public would be allowed into the courtroom to avoid congestion and security breaches.

The Department of State Services on Monday says it has uncovered plans by certain politicians across the country to stage violent protests mobilising student leaders, and ethic associations, among others.

The service said the planned protest was to rubbish the Federal Government and security agencies over what it described as socio-economic matters.

A statement on Monday by the service spokesperson, Peter Afunanya said intelligence reports at their disposal revealed.

Afunanya said those plotting the protests had been identified, adding that they are being monitored.
