World Cup: 5 Best Players After First Round Of Games In The Group Stage

The 2022 FIFA World Cup’s first round of games in the group stage has been concluded, with some of the teams getting a win and a few top teams failing to meet up to expectations.

The first game of the competition was between the host and Ecuador, the South American nation won the game 2-0, with both goals scored by Enner Valencia.

Spain and England are the two sides that have scored the most goals in the tournament so far while Ghana is the only team from Africa to find the back of the net so far.

After the first round of games in the group stage, here are the five best players in the competition thus far.

1 Bukayo Saka

The Arsenal forward was one of the best players in the first round of games. He produced a man-of-the-match performance in England’s 6-2 win over Iran in their first game in the tournament. The Gunners winger scored two goals in the game, which sealed his place in England’s starting lineup.

2 Enner Valencia

The Ecuador striker started the competition with a bang, he scored three goals in the first game, but one of them was ruled out for offside.

He played 77 minutes in the first game of the tournament and was the first player to be named man of the match.

3 Casemiro

The Manchester United midfielder produced an elite performance in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Serbia in the last game of the first round. He recovered balls, intercepted a lot of play in the game against the Serbians, and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

4 Dani Olmo

The Barcelona academy product was the star man for Spain in their game against Costa Rica. The RB Leipzig forward scored the first goal of the game, and also provided an assist.

5 Thibaut Courtois

The only goalkeeper on the list is Real Madrid shot-stopper, Courtois. The former Atletico Madrid goalie was the reason why Belgium secured all three points against Canada in their first game. He saved Alphonso Davies’ penalty and made some crucial saves in the game.
