With ongoing reconciliation, PDP ‘ll win Kogi – National Chairman

National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Damagum has expressed optimism that the party will win the November 16 governorship election in Kogi as well as in Imo and Bayelsa states.

Daily Times report that, He hinged his hope on the ongoing reconciliation process among stakeholders in the state.

Damagum spoke during a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) and PDP stakeholders in Kogi State held at the party’s national secretariat , Abuja on Wednesday.

“We have already seen prospects in the upcoming election in Kogi State,” the national chairman declared. Therefore, the purpose of this discussion is to learn about your difficulties and determine how to further the reconciliation before the election.

The ward, the local government, and the state will all participate in three stages of this reconciliation. I’m delighted that the majority of the leading stakeholders are present since they are in charge of securing that reconciliation. We can only encourage you to work on the reconciliation because we are outside the state.

Daily Times report that, Damagun continued by amusingly informing the crowd that “the Governor of Osun State, who is the Chairman of the Kogi campaign committee, has promised that he will go to each zone and sit down with you on a zonal basis.

He will run for office in each of these locations, and he is acutely aware of his duty to Kogi.

We want your leaders to specify where they want us to fit in at this meeting so that we can cooperate to win.

Sen. Dino Melaye, the party’s candidate for governor in Kogi State, told journalists following the meeting that PDP will win the election in the region because “we have never had it so bad in Kogi State history.

“Our people were indigent; salaries, pensions, gratuities, and the health sector which is nonexistent; in fact, all the general hospitals in the state are merely consulting clinics were all unpaid.

“Education has become moribund; the PDP is here to ameliorate and palate this,” I want to reassure you that this is by God’s grace. PDP is ready to go in Kogi State with the decisions made at this conference and the plan adopted there.

Melaye warned Kogi State residents not to be intimidated by the All Progressives Congress (APC), which has been using intimidation tactics like threats, violence, and degrading treatment.

“Our people’s exercise of their democratic rights shouldn’t be discouraged. I want to reassure you that we will safeguard our citizens, he continued.
