With All Of Tinubu's Promises, It's Disappointing That Only 19% Of His Ministers Are Women' – Fatima Saleh

Fatima Saleh, Secretary of the Women in Politics Forum, has expressed her belief that the President should have included a higher percentage of women in his cabinet, given that only 19% of the possible 45 ministerial slots were allocated to them.

Saleh, speaking during an interview in a video (10:39) on AIT, she highlighted the unfulfilled promises made to incorporate more women into the President’s cabinet prior to the election.

In her words, as expressed on AIT, “I am quite disappointed that the target of achieving at least 35% representation for women has not been met. Despite the hopes and promises of renewal, I anticipated that we would see a minimum of 35% women representation, but what do we have? Only 19%. While the women in the cabinet are undoubtedly highly qualified, the ratio is the underlying concern. With 45 positions available in the cabinet, having only 19% women is an issue we need to address.”
