Wike: The FCT Is Not Only Very Dirty But Also Becoming a Headquarter For Criminals —Iyobosa Uwagiaren

Iyobosa Uwagiaren, editor of Thisday and Nation’s Capital, has defended the claims of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, regarding the deteriorating state of the Federal Capital Territory. He noted that Wike was criticized after alleging that Nigeria’s capital has been left devastated, but in actual fact, the FCT has not only been littered but has also become the headquarters of criminals.

Recall that several reactions have followed the speech of the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, after he made known his plans to keep the city clean again.

Reacting to this, Iyobosa, in an interview session on Kakaaki with the AIT , said, “Wike’s Coming to Abuja has brought so much hope to the residents Including me, because looking at what happened in the last 8 years, the tenure of the former FCT minister was a disaster; it was as if we didn’t have a minister. Today, the FCT is very dirty, and the issue of insecurity in the FCT is growing.

When you go to some places in the FCT, like the Utako Motor Park, that place is the headquarters of criminals and drug addicts. We have an office opposite them, and sometimes we see smoke from Indian hemp oozing out of the place. And yet there are several other places like that in the center of the FCT. So, when people criticize Wike because he said he would demolish illegal structures without knowing there are several illegal structures that truly need to be demolished in the FCT to be able to look at where those criminals are hiding, If you want to fight insecurity in the FCT, those illegal structures must be pulled down. I think I agree with Wike.”
