Wike Built Bridges And Roads In Rivers But Abuja Has Those Already – Dr. Sam Amadi

A Director of Abuja School of Social and Political Theory, Dr. Sam Amadi, has suggested that the performance of the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, in terms of infrastructural development does not mean that he would perform well as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); as he maintained that the former Rivers governor did not improve education and healthcare when he was Governor.

Dr. Sam Amadi had said, “He (Wike) didn’t improve education; he didn’t improve healthcare; he didn’t improve even environment.”

Amadi, who spoke during an interview on Democracy Today, an AIT Television programme, insinuated, even though he did not make a direct statement, that Wike might not be the best Minister of the FCT. When asked to react to the statement of some groups, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Wike as the Minister of FCT, the Political Analyst, maintained that the FCT does not need to build bridges and roads.

Amadi started by noting that Wike is the first Minister of the FCT from the South, and commended the President for that. He, however, maintained that even though the former Rivers governor performed well in terms of infrastructural development, the FCT needs a Minister that would prepare ground for foreign investors to come into the country. He revealed that Wike did not do well in improving education, healthcare and security in Rivers; and maintained that the FCT needs a Minister that can work on these aspects.

Amadi said the Minister must make the FCT a centre of attraction for foreign countries to hold conferences, thereby allowing for the presence of foreign investors.
