The All Progressives Congress, has warned the Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state to stop inciting the people of the state against the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

The party also said the governor was blaming the Federal Government for the deplorable state of Edo roads accusing him of trying to put the blame of his “incompetence” on the new administration of Tinubu.

Recall that Obaseki in a statement released through his Special Adviser on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, had accused the Federal Government of being responsible for the deplorable state of federal roads in the state.

According to Obaseki, the FG was responsible for the massive suffering faced by the people as a result of the removal of petrol subsidy, which led to the skyrocketing of the price of the essential commodity.

But, in a press statement signed by the publicity secretary South-South Zonal Organising Secretary of the APC, Blessing Agbomhere, the party said the governor has “found a convenient way of putting the blame of his total failure on the less than three months old administration of President Tinubu which came into office with the road map of removing the burdensome fuel subsidy which has become a huge drain on the meagre revenue of the Federal Government.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin has met privately with Burkina Faso’s interim military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traore, over a situation that might not be unconnected with the Niger crisis.

While the details of the meeting were not clear as of the time of filing this report, there are speculations that the meeting was part of Putin’s plans to meet with French-speaking West African countries ruled by the military.

A short clip of the Russian leader’s meeting with Traore was posted by Jackson Hinkle on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday.

@jacksonhinkle wrote, “Putin held a private meeting with the world’s youngest leader, Captain Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso.”

Traore is the world’s youngest currently serving leader after becoming the interim leader of Burkina Faso following the coup on 30th September 2022 which ousted interim president Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba.

Mali and Burkina Faso have pledged their support to Niger, as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) issued a one-week ultimatum to the junta to reinstate ousted President Mohamed Bazoum.

A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olabode George said President Tinubu Bola and the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, have enough room to dialogue with leaders of the Niger coup.

George stated this while speaking in an interview with Arise Television on Tuesday.

He said, “When they meet tomorrow, I am advising that there’s enough room for dialogue, and the underlining crisis that is engaging all these francophone countries today dates back to the French approach to their own system of colonialism.

“While the British had colonies, the French had the principle of assimilation. In other words, they didn’t let go. There’s no French country in the whole of Africa where the French government does not have a minimum of a battalion stationed there,” he added.

The former military General said, “You learn from your experiences. We were in ECOMOG, which was the country that was responsible militarily, financially, and personnel-wise for the armed forces. We did extremely well; what was the benefit to Nigeria?

A coalition of Quranic Memorisers and Reciters has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to swear in former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai as minister.

Sheikh Sidi Aliyu Sise, the Director of Education, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation, appealed to Tinubu not to swear in unjust politicians.

According to him, the nomination of El-Rufai and his screening by the National Assembly was injustice to Qur’anic memorisers and reciters.

He alleged that El-rufa’i oppressed Almajirai under his leadership when he was a governor.

He appealed to Tinubu to govern the country with the eyes of justice.

Sheikh Sidi pleaded, “We demand for justice as a result of injustice, harassment, trauma, and difficulties encountered by our disciples, teachers and many Qur’anic scholars, when he evacuated our innocent pupils from the House of Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi in Kaduna to unknown destination.
