According to Vanguard News, the culprit was exposed by a passerby at Mile 2 in Lagos state. After he was exposed, Esiala claimed that it was his boss that ordered him to use the children to beg for alms. Speaking with Vanguard correspondents, the culprit alleged that when he came to Lagos for the first time, he didn’t have any work to do. He claimed that this was when his boss named Uche asked him to be taking the children out for begging. In his words, Esiala said ” We gave them drugs that swelled their stomach. Although I don’t know the name of the drugs they were given, their stomach gets swollen for some hours and their mothers in the village are aware of the business.” The suspect claimed that his Oga brings kids to Lagos every time he returned from his village. He revealed that some children spent years with them and half of the money made during those periods is sent to their mothers back in the village.

While confessing, Esiala alleged that they have another set of people staying at Ajagbadi with different kids. He revealed that the name of the person handling the business in Ajagbadi is called Goodluck.
