As Nigeria inches closer to the release of the redesigned new naira notes, the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF, has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to be watchful.
AYCF National President, Yerima Shettima, urged the EFCC to ensure that wicked politicians explain their ill-gotten wealth. Recall that the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, had set December 5th, 2022, for the release of the redesigned naira notes.
CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele said N100, N200, N500, and N1000 notes would be redesigned. However, AYCF National President, Yerima Shettima, said the new policy would expose those with ill-gotten wealth.
Tinubu Commends Obasanjo for resolving Ethiopian Conflict
The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has commended former President Olusegun Obasanjo for trying to resolve conflicts in Ethiopia.
Tinubu said Obasanjo’s contribution to the stability of Africa is commendable. He tweeted: “I commend the statesmanship of former President Olusegun Obasanjo as he continues his contribution to the stability of the African continent with a successful diplomatic mission in Ethiopia where he led the mediation of an important peace treaty.
“It is hoped that the process results, ultimately, in the permanent resolution of the conflict and a full commitment to the cause of unity, restoration, and development.”
There won’t be ASUU strike under Atiku presidency – Reno Omokri
A former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has said there will not be an issue of strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) should the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar become president of Nigeria in 2023.
Omokri made this assertion in an interview with Channel Television’s Politics Today on Thursday. He noted is determined to improve Nigeria’s economy through education, by ensuring that education gets the highest sectoral allocation in the national budget.
“Atiku is determined to make sure that the youths are equipped with the skills that they need to employ and to be employable,” he said. Lately, ASUU has accused the Federal Government of trying to break its ranks by selecting some medical lecturers for the payment of their withheld salaries, while another academic staff is left unattended to.
Court sacks Ajulo-Opin as Kwara APC Reps candidate
An Ilorin Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin on Wednesday sacked the lawmaker representing Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero/Ekiti Federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Raheem Olawuyi Ajuloopin is an All Progressives Congress(APC) candidate for the 2023 general elections.
The court presided over by Justice I.M Sanni, instead declared Hon. Oluwasegun Cornelius Adebayo is the authentic APC candidate for the 2023 general elections. Hon. OlOlusegunornelius Adebayo, son of the former governor of the state, Chief Cornelius Adebayo hails from Oke-on origin Isin local government area and won APC Primary election conducted in May 2022.
But Hon. Raheem Olawuyi, the incumbent member of the house representative instead participated in the senatorial primaries of Kwara South and emerged second while Senator Lola Ashiru the incumbent Senator defeated him to retain his seat.
