Why insecurity, violence is on the rise – Obi

Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the general elections of 2023, has cited rising youth unemployment and poverty as the root causes of the country’s increasing armed conflict.

Additionally, he drew attention to the underinvestment in education, which could have given them the information, confidence, and skills they needed to succeed in the technologically driven global community.

He did, however, make the argument that giving Nigerians more possibilities for empowerment and education, especially the youth who make up the majority of the population, would do much to reduce violent conflict and other forms of unrest.

According to The Punch, speaking on Saturday at the Pacesetters schools’ 2023 graduation ceremony in Abuja, Mr. Obi said that more work is needed to help Nigerians escape poverty, which will surely lower crime rates in the country.

Obi praised the graduating students and advised them to uphold their newfound principles while continuing to be good representatives of the institution.

In his remarks, Kenneth Imansuangbon, Chairman of Pacesetters Schools in Abuja, urged the graduates to make Nigeria and their schools proud by leaving their mark on the globe.

Imansuangbon, a candidate for governor of Edo in the following year’s election, affirmed that the graduates had received good training at the institution, making them capable of defending themselves in any situation—academically, emotionally, or otherwise.

Because they are Nigeria’s future, he tasked them with serving as ambassadors abroad. “Nigeria needs change, and I believe the training they have received puts them in a better position to represent this country because they are the future of Nigeria.”

Alhaji Muhammad Sunusi, the Emir of Dutse, decried the appalling state of education in Nigeria while nostalgically reliving his days as a student at the Federal Government College (FGC), Kano, and the profound impact that education had on him.

He asked the government to spend more and take better care of the teachers to raise the caliber of the nation’s public schools.

When he eventually wins the governorship election next year, the Emir will give the Chairman of Pacesetters Schools, Abuja, instructions to raise the bar for public schools in Edo State.
