"While The Entire Southeast Receives 5 ministers, States like Mine In Ogun only Receive 3 -Segun Sowunmi

Segun Sowunmi, a former PDP candidate for governor in Ogun State, claims that only five ministers from the South East were appointed to President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, compared to three from Ogun State. In an interview with Arise TV , he claimed that the president’s cabinet would have consisted of no more than 37 people if they had adhered to federal character.

In His words, “Federal law mandates that there be at least one minister in every state. And with that giving you 37, we can at least say that the law restrained you. What rationale do you have for choosing 48 ministers? Then, to make it even harder to believe that you are acting in an equitable manner, we have observed that some zones received more than other zones. While the entire Southeast receives five ministers, states like mine in Ogun only receive three. Therefore, if the Federal Character did not specify to take one per state, that is technically what you are stating to us. Probably, you would have devised a cabinet that the Southeast would not even consider”.
