"Whatever Reason The Senate Have For Delaying El Rufai, I'm Sure It's Cogent Enough" -Hon. Bimbo Daramola

In response to the Senate’s delay in confirming former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai as a minister due to security clearance issues, Hon. Bimbo Daramola, a former member of the House of Representatives, shared his views during an interview on Channels Television’s program, Politics Tonight.

Daramola stated that the Senate must have valid reasons for the delay, and Nigerians will have to wait to see whether El-Rufai will eventually be confirmed or not. He mentioned that while El-Rufai had encountered some contentious moments with the National Assembly in the past, it might not be the primary concern now. During El-Rufai’s screening, Daramola recalled that Senator Karim had raised an envelope containing a petition against El-Rufai regarding security matters.

Daramola expressed confidence that this issue would be brought before the President. He also highlighted the involvement of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, suggesting that if it is something they can negotiate and overcome, they will do so. In conclusion, Daramola acknowledged that whatever reason the Senate has for delaying El-Rufai’s confirmation, it is likely to be well-founded and substantial.
