‘We’ve full confidence in him’ — Niger Delta group hails Keyamo’s ministerial nomination

The Niger Delta oil and gas professionals have applauded the nomination of Festus Keyamo, former minister of state for labour and employment, by President Bola Tinubu as a minister-designate.

After removing the name of Maryam Shetty, who had been nominated from Kano, Tinubu had added Keyamo and Mariya Mahmoud to the list of ministerial nominees given to the senate for review and confirmation on Friday.

Six days after the president sent a list of 28 nominees to parliament, a new list of 19 names was released.

Soki Etebu, the head of the oil and gas professionals, said in a statement on Sunday that Tinubu’s deeds have demonstrated that he is a man of honour.

Etebu expressed pleasure that the nominee would be a member of a government that aims to better the lives of Nigerians and claimed that Keyamo represented growth and tenacity.

Etebu expressed his optimism that Keyamo would be selected as the petroleum minister, fulfilling the president’s pledge to Niger Delta agitators to pick a local to lead the ministry of crude oil.

According to the Cable news, Festus Keyamo is the person best prepared for the position, according to the statement. He is from the Niger Delta, has a strong legal background, has fought for the region’s citizens, and possesses the poise to promote growth and success in the industry.

“He is knowledgeable and experienced enough to carry out reforms, unbundle the industry, and oversee the Petroleum Industry Act’s implementation, among other things.

“We have complete faith in Keyamo; he is diligent, focused, knowledgeable, and prepared to serve in the ministry. We implore the Senate to work with President Tinubu to quickly screen him.
