We’re Treated Like Outcasts —Tricycle Riders Who Rode from Lagos to Abuja In Solidarity With Tinubu

Sahara Reporters reports that three tricycle riders who drove from Lagos to Abuja in a show of solidarity with President Bola Tinubu have lamented that they are stranded in the capital city after being denied the opportunity to meet the President and treated as outcasts. They, therefore, appealed to good-spirited Nigerians to come to their aid with funds.

The riders stated this on Tuesday while speaking with journalists about their predicament.

The three men reportedly began their journey from Lagos on Monday, July 3, and arrived in Abuja the next day, Tuesday, July 4, after a 17-hour ride.

One of the riders, Onanuga Babatunde, who spoke on behalf of the trio, lamented that they have been in Abuja for 10 days without seeing the President or any of his aides.

According to him, they are stranded and cannot afford the money to fuel their two tricycles to return to Lagos after spending over N100,000 on fuel.

He lamented that the officials at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) refused to give them an audience and prevented them from entering the secretariat.

Onanuga said:

“I am the one that drove a tricycle from Lagos to Abuja to show solidarity with the President. We are three in number – Comrade Ahmed Bolaji and Comrade Akintade Temitope.

“Since we arrived, we have been stranded. We have spent 10 days in Abuja. We have spent all our money on fuel and we don’t have anything with us. We have been paying for hotel accommodation since we came to Abuja.”

Temitope appealed to the President to grant them access to meet him.

But the majority of Nigerians, who reacted to the story which Sahara Reporters posted its Twitter handle, had no words of sympathy for the stranded tricycle riders. Instead, they mocked them for embarking on such a vain venture hoping for selfish gains unbeknownst to them that no one really cares about them.
