Despite Withdrawing My Ministerial Nomination, I'm Still Ready To Work, Says Shetty

President Bola Tinubu withdrew his nomination of Dr. Maryam Shetty for a cabinet position, but she has stated that she is still ready to serve the nation.

Prior to the screening of ministerial nominees on Friday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio stated that President Tinubu had withdrew Shetty’s nomination and replaced her with Mariya Mahmoud, who is also from Kano state.

According to reports, Shetty was informed of the situation when she showed up for the screening at the national assembly building.

Shetty said in a statement on Saturday that receiving the nomination made her feel incredibly honored and proud.

She also expressed her gratitude to the president for giving her consideration for a ministerial position, stating that despite the unexpected turn in the road, her trip was far from over.

“The pure happiness and pleasure I experienced upon being nominated were beyond words. It was an indication that our wonderful nation was prepared to accept a future in which young women like me, even from the most traditional sections of Nigeria, might assume positions of influence and power. It was also a confirmation of my ability and a nod to my vision.

However, life’s usual lack of predictability caused me to withdraw my candidacy. This could appear to be a setback to some people, but as a devoted Muslim, my faith guided my reasoning. I perceived it to be the divine will of Allah, who, in my opinion, bestows authority when and as He pleases. His schemes are always more effective than ours.

The trip doesn’t finish here; in my opinion, this is only a first step, and far better things are yet to come. I’m more determined than ever to help my dear country of Nigeria in any way I can, she declared.

She continued to pledge her allegiance to the country and urged her followers to pray for and support the president.

“I want to reassure all of my great followers that this is not the end, but rather the beginning of a new era. I want everyone to keep praying for Nigeria and to support our president in his efforts to make the country better. Let’s move on together under the banner of our #WEBELIEVE campaign.

Although my nomination was withdrawn, I still have optimism. Hope is not lost; perhaps I will return, since I have spoken a lot.

“This stage of my life has strengthened my sense of fortitude, faith, and the importance of service over titles and positions. It has strengthened my conviction in Nigeria’s capacity for change and in its inherent grandeur. The dream is still alive, and I remain unwavering in my dedication to our country, she continued.
