We’re Tired Of Sit-at-home—Enugu Residents

Residents across Enugu State have cried out to the governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for help over the continuous declaration and enforcement of the illegal sit-at-home order by a faction of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) led by Simon Ekpa.

The residents, who spoke to newsmen at different locations in the state when a civil society group, Coalition for the Advancement of Good Governance (CAGG) led by Comrade Nduka Festus, went round the state to sensitize and also sound out the people on the negative impacts of sit-at-home on them, said they were tired of the protracted sit-at-home order.

The people, who rued their losses, lamented that the sit-at-home was inflicting unimaginable pains, hardships and hunger on them.

At Abakpa market, Mrs., Beatrice Onyinye, a trader, recounted the ordeal she was facing in her business as a result of the sit-at-home. She said that school fees had oiled up while she was also unable to pay the rent for her shop since the illegal sit-at-home order was declared.

We’ve Positioned LP To Succeed In Edo—Abure

Mr Julius Abure, National Chairman of the Labour Party says the party has strategically positioned itself to win the 2024 governorship election in Edo State.

Abure said this when Mr Stephen Osemwegie, a governorship aspirant of the party, paid an official visit to the party Secretariat in Abuja.

He said the party was committed to fielding a competent candidate and would support any aspirant that would enhance the growth and development of Edo people.

He said a level-playing ground was assured as the primary elections of the party would be free, fair and credible.

“There is no gainsaying the fact that our country is in dire need of competent and quality leaders with capacity and vision and leaders who have what it takes for effective performance.

Clear our forests of bandits, northern leaders task Tinubu

Some northern leaders have said the only way there can be a lasting solution to the problem of insecurity in the country is to clear the forests of bandits. They argued that it will be foolish for the government to think of negotiating with the bandits as suggested by the former governor of Zamfara state, Mallam Sani Yerima in view of the past negotiations with the bandits which they refused to respect. They therefore called on President Bola Tinubu to take the fight against insecurity in the country to the door step of the bandits in the forests.

We will continue to promote peace between Nigeria, Niger Republic – Gov. Buni

Governor, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has assured Peace Ambassadors of Abzinawa Damagaram, Zeinder, Niger Republic that he will continue to promote peace between the two countries.

Buni gave the assurance through his Spokesman, Mamman Mohammed in a statement issued shortly after receiving the leader of the Niger delegation, Abdullahi Ibrahim in Damaturu.

“I will continue to encourage peaceful coexistence among our communities and countries”, Gov. Buni assured.

The Niger delegation honoured the governor with the traditional title of “Sarkin Yakin Zaman Lafiya” for Nigeria and Niger Republic.
