Tinubu campaigned for Buhari twice but he is now saying he inherited a battered economy from him – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched criticism at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his administration marks its first 100 days in office. Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), took over the presidency on May 29, 2023, with his government receiving both praise and criticism from Nigerians.

The context for this criticism includes recent remarks by Finance Minister Wale Edun, who stated that President Tinubu inherited a struggling economy and that the last notable period of economic development was during the administration of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

In response to Edun’s statement, the Deputy Youth Leader of the PDP, Timothy Osadolor, voiced scathing criticism of President Tinubu. Osadolor expressed that Tinubu should feel ashamed, as he was a key figure in the APC, which brought President Muhammadu Buhari to power, a presidency that Osadolor characterized as a “monumental failure.”

According to The Punch paper, Osadolor accused President Tinubu of starting his own administration cluelessly, subjecting millions of Nigerians to hardships. He pointed out that they had sent Edun to make excuses on their behalf but urged Nigerians to recognize that the man who had previously asked them to blame him if Buhari’s administration failed was now admitting that he had little to offer. The PDP’s Deputy Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor, strongly criticized President Tinubu’s administration, particularly in response to remarks about the state of the economy and the alleged shortcomings of the APC-led government.

“Tinubu campaigned for Buhari twice and today he is telling us that his predecessor handed him a battered economy. This is a shameful admission but Nigerians are not fooled.”
