Daniel Bwala Reveals That NYSC Act States That There Is A Penalty Of N2,000 Fine, 12 Months In Prison For Absconding From NYSC

A Nigerian lawyer, Daniel Bwala, has disclosed that it is unlawful for someone who has accepted to serve in the NYSC to abscond from service after accepting to serve.

According to Daniel Bwala, the NYSC act stipulates that after someone has appeared in the orientation camp or has already started serving after the orientation camp, and goes ahead to abscond from NYSC, then such a person is guilty of an offense and is liable upon conviction to pay a fine of N2,000 or seven jail time of 12 months or both.

Daniel Bwala made this statement amidst the controversy surrounding the NYSC of one of Bola Tinubu’s ministers, Musawa. Remember that it was once rumored that Musawa absconded from the NYSC after she was reportedly posted to serve in the South-East.
