In a bid to ensure effective governance and the delivery of impactful services to its citizens, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has called upon his appointees to work collaboratively as a united team. Speaking at the opening of a weeklong retreat for newly appointed Executive Council Members, Political Appointees, Permanent Secretaries, Chief Executives of Parastatals, and the Governor’s Direct Reporting Unit Staff, the Governor emphasized the need for collective effort and commitment to the prosperity of the state.
As per Vanguard papers on Monday, August 14, 2023, Governor Mutfwang addressed the attendees on Monday during the inauguration of the retreat, held at the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos. He underlined the challenges the state has faced and highlighted the urgent need to rebuild and uplift Plateau State for the benefit of its citizens. He referred to the retreat as the initial step in a series of workshops designed to align top government functionaries with the administration’s vision, encapsulated by the “Time Is Now” mantra.
Appreciating the citizens of Plateau State for their support and confidence in the administration, Governor Mutfwang urged his appointees to employ critical thinking and innovative strategies to meet the heightened expectations of the populace. He articulated, “We are at a critical juncture in Plateau State’s history, with the people’s expectations of government exceedingly high. The overwhelming joy that followed our election victory and the historic inauguration on May 29 are a testament to this.”
The Governor expressed his hope that the citizens’ trust in the administration would not go unfulfilled, urging unity and collaborative effort among the government’s appointees. “We are not in a competition, but a collaboration,” he asserted. “To ensure the success of this collaboration, we must unite our hearts and objectives, plan, and work together to execute government programs and policies.”
The weeklong retreat has been meticulously planned, with a series of activities aimed at enhancing the capacity of the appointees. These activities will help them contribute more effectively to the governance and development of the state. The comprehensive program includes training sessions, brainstorming workshops, and discussions centered around fostering teamwork, strategic planning, and delivering tangible results to the citizens.
