NNPP expels its presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso

The National Executive Committee of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expelled Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the party during the February 25 presidential election in Nigeria, from the party following his refusal to show up before the party’s disciplinary committee over the allegation of anti-party levelled against him.

According to Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Kwankwaso’s expulsion from NNPP was announced on Tuesday in Lagos by the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Abdulsalam Abdulrazaq. He stated that Senator Kwankwaso has been expelled from the party with immediate effect because of his refusal to honour the committee’s invitation.

Senator Kwankwaso, the2023 Presidential candidate of NNPP, had earlier been suspended by the party’s leadership during their national convention on August 29, in Lagos State.

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) set up a Disciplinary committee and directed it to invite Senator Kwankwaso to defend allegations of gross anti-party levelled against him and mismanagement of party/campaign funds within five days.

The leadership of the party warned that, failure to appear before the constituted Disciplinary committee, he (Rabiu Kwankwaso) would be expelled from the party in line with the provisions of the NNPP’s constitution 2022 (as amended).
