'I Can't Believe That 19 Of Our Governors Will Go To Kigali To Learn How To Govern' – Prof Bolaji Akinyemi

A Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi has expressed his displeasure over 19 Nigerian governors going to Kigali in Rwanda for a 3 days retreat organised by the UNDP. He said in an interview with Arise TV news that the UNDP is sending a message to Africa that they prefer development to democracy. According to him, the Nigerian governors should never have attended the retreat in Kigali.

He said, ”When you think things cannot get worse then they do get worse. I can’t believe we will fall into shame by 19 of our governors going to Kigali in Rwanda to learn how to govern. In any case, if I say things can’t get worse next week, then they will get worse. First of all, what is the UNDP up to? Are they sending a signal to Africa that they prefer development to democracy? Is that the message they are sending to Africa and is that the message that our governors will go to Rwanda to embrace.”
