PEPT: Respect tribunal’s judgment – Kaduna CAN urges Nigerians

Rev. John Hayab, the Kaduna State chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has called upon Nigerians to uphold the nation’s judiciary and come together for the betterment of the country. This appeal follows the judgment of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) in Abuja on Wednesday, September 6, which confirmed the election of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election.

According to PUNCH paper, during an interview, Hayab emphasized the importance of respecting the judicial system for the sake of peace and harmonious coexistence in the nation.

“We should, as Nigerians, respect the judicial system for the interest of peace and harmonious coexistence of the country,” Hayab stated.

He further urged Nigerians not to allow political differences to divide the nation but to unite and cooperate with the leader deemed fit by the court to govern the country for the advancement of Nigeria.

In addition to calling for unity, the cleric advised against participating in activities that could incite chaos and disrupt the nation’s growth. He also encouraged politicians and all citizens to accept the tribunal’s judgment and let the rule of law prevail, even if the judgment did not align with their expectations.

“Politicians come and go, but the country remains. Therefore, we must think inward and not allow some selfish individuals to put the country into confusion that could lead to chaos and result in the loss of lives and property, setting the country backwards instead of consolidating Nigeria’s progress,” Hayab concluded
