Leave Kwankwaso Alone, NNPP Tells Ganduje

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has called on the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Umar Ganduje to leave their leader and the presidential candidate of their party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, alone.

Leadership paper reported that, According to the NNPP, Kwankwaso is far ahead of Ganduje politically, adding that he is busy building the NNPP and will not join the APC.

Ladipo Johnson, the NNPP’s national auditor, told reporters at the party’s national headquarters that discussing the APC national chairman would be distracting from their main goal of reviving their own party.

Like Kwankwaso last week, Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State, denied ever being a political offspring of the NNPP candidate for president in the most recent election.

The remark was designed to emphasize Kwankwaso and Ganduje’s political differences.

Before being elected governor in 2015, Ganduje worked as Kwankwaso’s deputy governor and chief of staff in various political roles.

The two former governors’ relationship broke down following the 2015 general elections.

They have been at odds in Kano State ever since they disintegrated.

He claimed that the party’s main goal is to be rebuilt, and that doing so will necessitate member discipline.

Abba Kawu Ali, national chairman of the NNPP, however, expressed surprise at the APC’s choice of Ganduje.

According to him, Kwankwaso is leagues ahead of and superior to the new APC national chairman, so there is no reason to compare the two men.

Given that it was created less than a year before the actual election, he remarked, “The party did quite well in the 2023 general elections.
