Two Child Traffickers Arrested With 2 Newborn Babies In Ebonyi (VIDEO)

Bizarre things happen every day in Nigeria; everyone should be vigilant about events that unfold within their surroundings. On Monday, November 22, 2021, some members of a local vigilante group in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State arrested two child traffickers around Abaomege area of the state.

The suspects gave their names as Achibong from Akwa Ibom State and Akpan Blessing— a native of Cross Rivers State. The child traffickers had successfully escaped some security checkpoints while travelling from the neighbouring Cross River State. However, they ran out of luck at Abaomege, a team of local security network halted their vehicle at the border town between Cross River and Ebonyi States.

Upon thorough search, the vigilante members were shocked as they discovered two newly- born babies wrapped with fabrics inside two sack bags. The babies were alleged to be one- week- old and two weeks old respectively. One of the arrested child traffickers was a visibly pregnant woman, and surely, the newborn baby is not hers.

Meanwhile, the office of the First Lady of Ebonyi State (Madam Rachael Ogonna Umahi) had ensured that the two babies were taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, for a further medical check and adequate care while the police try to establish more information about the two new- born babies.

The two suspected child traffickers have been handed over to the Ebonyi State Police Command for proper investigation. Hopefully, all the perpetrators involved in this heinous crime would be arrested and prosecuted. The police are urged to carry out their jobs properly and diligently to unravel those behind this act.

Also, Engr. Felix Ogbonna Igboke, the Chairman of Onicha Local Government Area, has thanked the local security operatives and the community vigilante group for rescuing the two babies. Nigerians are hereby charged to be vigilant and watchful at all times.
