“Three Police Officers in Edo State Shot Dead by Unknown Gunmen”

Unknown gunmen have struck again, killing three police officers and injuring another during an attack in Edo State on April 6th. The officers were on their way to their duty post between 5:30am and 6am when they were ambushed near Agor Market, along the Igarra-Auchi Road in Edo State.

According to reports, the police officers were traveling in a car while another colleague was riding on a motorbike behind them when they were attacked. However, one of the attackers was killed while another sustained gunshot wounds. The injured suspect has been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment and interrogation.

It was also reported that six rifles were recovered from the assailants by the head of the vigilante group in the area, Ibukun Dogo, and his team. They trailed the attackers through bloodstains to their hideout where they met two of them with gunshot injuries.

Speaking on the incident, Dogo said, “One died from the gunshots while the other was taken away by the police to the hospital. We recovered the four police rifles and additional two in the area we found the assailants. The suspect said they are from Okene in Kogi State, but we don’t know their mission whether it is armed robbery or kidnapping and what they wanted to use the arms and ammunition for.”

The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident but said the command had yet to get the details of the attack.
