Tribunal Verdict: It is not Obi & LP that lost yesterday, it is Nigeria & Nigerians. -Ozigbo

Valentine Ozigbo, a former Governorship candidate in Anambra State and a prominent member of the Labour Party, has responded to the verdict delivered by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja. The tribunal’s judgment, which was issued yesterday, has drawn significant attention.

It’s worth recalling that, as per the Independent National Electoral Commission’s declaration, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, emerged victorious in the presidential election, defeating formidable opponents such as Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party. Both Peter Obi and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidates of the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party respectively, contested Tinubu’s victory in the Presidential Election Tribunal in Abuja, but their petitions were dismissed by the court yesterday.

Taking to his verified Twitter account, Valentine Ozigbo expressed his dismay at the tribunal’s judgment, characterizing it as a replica of the APC’s final argument during the tribunal proceedings. He questioned when the legal profession would prioritize justice over technicalities.

In another tweet, Valentine Ozigbo contended that the Labour Party presented a compelling case, surpassing the efforts of the APC’s legal team. He emphasized that the loss in this case wasn’t solely borne by Peter Obi and the Labour Party but by the entirety of Nigeria and its citizens. Valentine Ozigbo cautioned against allowing such a skewed judgment to set a dangerous precedent and erode trust in the judiciary. He employed hashtags like #JusticeUnderDuress and #TheRealLossIsOurs to underscore his concerns.

Valentine Ozigbo’s recent statements on Twitter have sparked widespread reactions from his supporters and numerous followers on the social media platform.
